Exquisite Shadow Boxes in Metal Clay

 

 

Workshop Description


How do you house your favorite stone, image, or other treasure? In an exquisite shadow box pendant! In this metal clay class you’ll learn box construction, construction of natural forms, how to capture textures with two-part mold compound. You’ll construct a round pendant with textures on all sides. The top panel is a frame designed to reveal your treasures.

 

Tools to bring:

  • Basic Metal Clay Tools

  • Wooden Ring Mandrel

  • Small items you would like to use in the shadowbox (molds will be made of these items) Patrik will have some items to make molds of.

  • Scotch tape and paper

  • Exacto with fresh blades

 

Supplies

  • PMC+ or PMC 3 28 gram pack (or more)

  • 2 part Mold Compound

Bird Nest Ring

Workshop Description

This workshop will cover a cornucopia of techniques to make a beautiful metal clay nest ring. Patrik will show you the tips and tricks that he uses to create beautiful rings while working with PMC3. Students will learn how to use everyday tools to make a beautiful nest, tiny bird eggs, and flower ring. You will also learn metal clay skills to correctly size, finish, and fire a ring. You’ll add 22k gold overlay to your eggs and learn how to patina the rings to give them a rich look. You’ll leave with a finished ring and have the skills necessary to create your own rings.

  • Small paint brush #1 round tip (or similar)
