Glass casting
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Glass casting is the process in which
glass
objects are
cast by directing molten glass into a
mould where it solidifies. The technique has been used since
the
Egyptian period. Modern cast glass is formed by a variety of
processes such as kiln casting, or casting into sand, graphite
or metal moulds.
Learn to make plaster of paris molds (one reverse mold
and one to carve your own design). The molds will hold your glass bits
and be fired during the week (you'll be given a firing schedule for
future use). You will also learn to saw and to solder.
On the 2nd Saturday you will design and saw your bezel
and bale and then make your own prongs to be soldered to the bezel.
